Living in Puerto Aventuras now!

Did you miss me? It would appear I have not written in awhile. For those with inquiring minds .... I took a break. My husband and I still live in Mexico although we sold our beautiful house in Playa del Carmen last fall and have moved into a pretty awesome condo in Puerto Aventuras ( about 15 minutes further south).

We moved our kids, now 19 and 21 back to BC, Canada this last summer as they wanted to experience Canadian culture and pursue jobs there. It is safe to say they did experience culture shock living in Canada after living in Mexico for the last 11 years of their life. That will be another blog.

Shawn and I are enjoying our renewed honeymoon tremendously and we love our new condo. Yes, this is a picture from our living room. No open invitations to visit at this point as I think we have had non stop company since December. I have a lot to fill you in on but more another day.

Let each day be an adventure.
Make it an Outstanding Day!

What are the mosquitos like there? Are they a problem?

Hi Mike! Not so far but we always have a breeze so I think that helps.

Sounds exciting! We are a family from Canada and will be moving to PA in August with our 4 kids, ages 13, 10, 8, and 6. Maybe we'll bump into eachother fellow British Columbian! :))

Thanks Suzanne, we're very excited ( and a little nervous) we've never done anything like this before, but I had a revelation late last year and decided that life was too short! So off we go. I've got things mostly all organized for our arrival, but the only thing that I don't know what to do about is banking. Any advice on that?

Hi Julie! Yes, I believe life should be enjoyed to the fullest! Sounds like what we did that I wrote about in my book.

What exactly do you need to know about banking? You can access Canadian funds through ATM's all over and you can open an account here once you are settled.

I am flying to Puebla this afternoon for a little Mexican adventure so forgive me if I don't answer back right away.

I'm just wondering about paying bills, rent... When I need larger amounts. I guess we could open a Mexican bank account, and have $ wire transferred from our account in Canada?
Oh, and do we need any warm/winter clothes? We have 4 kids so I don't want to overpack needlessly!
Hope you're having an awesome adventure!
Thanks Suzanne!

Hi Julie, We are back! We had an awesome trip. If you friend me on FaceBook and then add my Living in Mexico page as well you will be able to see the pictures I post soon.

The weather here? There are a few months in the winter we need some long pants and a sweater on some days but that is about the extent of it :). You can open a local bank account and you can wire transfer - just check with your Canadian bank before you leave on what they need to do a wire transfer for you. Hope that helps! Suzanne
