We not only have Playa del Carmen beaches at our feet but a quick drive away are the beautiful beaches of Maroma, Tulum, Akumal and Puerto Aventuras to name just a few.
With great love, Suzanne

Suzanne, which of those areas would recommend to a young couple who like some activity, but want some quiet & seclusion, adventure and some history? I tend to like things off the beaten path and nontouristy, but not to the point that there is nothing interesting to do. Hope that makes sense, I've been intrigued by Tulum from things I've read.
Hi Leah! Well honestly I don't think you can go wrong with any of the areas in the Riviera Maya. If you are drawn to Tulum - you should probably consider staying in Tulum. There are a lot of beautiful beaches there. From any of the towns all along the coast you have access to the ruins of Tulum, Coba and Chitzen Itza in at most a day trip. There are cenotes everywhere for swimming, exploring or diving. Maroma Beach can be visited on a Sunday and it should be very quiet as they don't do all the activities then. Does anyone else have other ideas?
I know exactly what you mean. There are so many times when I just sit back and say..."do I really live here?!?!" and that is usually at the beach or at a cenote.
Then again- when I found the tarantula in my wash basin it was more..." What the heck am I doing living here!?!?!"
But it is much more of the 1st. I always tell people the thing that I love most about being here is that- yeah we make almost NO money and yeah we work a lot more... but the way we live is cheaper and our time off is spent doing much better things!
